Maureen Batt Comes Home to Carol
Frederictonian Maureen Batt leads a sing-along concert at the new pavilion
Fredericton, NB, December 19, 2017
This week on Thursday, December 21 at 6pm at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery Maureen is offering a concert and sing-along of holiday favourites. The event, entitled “Come Carol with Me” will be in the gallery’s brand new pavilion. All are encouraged to come sing, turn their lyrics sheets into piece of art, and enjoy some musical cheer. Batt is joined by Catherine MacDonald on the piano. This event is organized by the Beaverbrook Art Gallery; admission is by donation.
Maureen always enjoys singing in her hometown, “I truly believe that Fredericton, its music community, and arts supporters, have shaped me as an artist. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Fredericton.”
“We are delighted to welcome Maureen Batt and Catherine MacDonald to the Gallery, and to encourage cultural pride and artistic creation in this space,” says Tom Smart, Director and CEO of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. “We invite all New Brunswickers to join us in creating festive music surrounded by inspiring works of art.”
Since releasing her first album in June, East Coast soprano Maureen Batt has been raising a glass (of red, of course) to Lady of the Lake’s multiple accolades. The album is released on Leaf Music, owned by Fredericton-born Jeremy VanSlyke. She has received many positive critiques and kudos including a Nova Scotia Music Award nomination for Classical Recording of the Year and nomination for Best Classical Artist in The Coast’s Best of Halifax.
